POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM OFFICER
POSITION LOCATION: WASHINGTON, DC
DEPARTMENT: PROGRAMS
PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: VICE PRESIDENT, PROGRAMS

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Officer supports program work throughout AMIDEAST’s network of field offices. Key responsibilities include review of financial reports for English language, institutional strengthening, and other programs on a regular basis and liaising with field office personnel regarding questions and corrections; tracking fulfilment of deliverables for program sponsors (including reporting requirements); and providing program backstopping and liaison with AMIDEAST’s Finance and Contracts and Grants programs as necessary. The Program Officer will also work closely with the Director for Education Program Development and be supervised by him for work on university preparatory programs in the region, including coordinating teacher recruitment activities, preparing and compiling reports; and providing deployment and on-going administrative and logistical support to field-based. Involvement in proposal development is anticipated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Regular review of financial data for ongoing programs
• Liaising with field-based staff for program implementation and financial monitoring purposes
• Monitoring program compliance and deliverables, including fulfilment of reporting requirements
• Coordinating with AMIDEAST’s Finance and Contracts and Grants functions as necessary
• Developing and monitoring program budgets
• Contributing to and/or drafting program reports, website material, promotional materials, newsletters, and other written materials
• Supporting teacher and other staff recruitment for in-region program delivery, including advertising, screening CVs, coordinating interviews, ongoing communication with candidates, and deployment support
• Participation in research and writing for new program development and proposals
• Providing other assistance as needs evolve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Prior experience providing personnel and management support
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant program support experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word
• Budgeting and budget monitoring experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize
• Self-starter

Preferred:

• Previous experience living and/or working abroad and in the Middle East in particular
• Arabic language proficiency
• Teacher recruitment experience
• Administrative experience in educational institutions
• Teaching and/or administrative experience in programs teaching English to speakers of other languages
