American Computer Services, Inc. is seeking Java Developers to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a mid to senior level application development background working with IBM WebSphere tools and technologies. This is a great opportunity to work in the latest technologies and on large scale applications involving a lot of data integration.

The preferred work location is Iowa (Des Moines or Cedar Rapids).

Responsibilities:
Develops specifications for new and existing systems.
Designs, codes, tests and documents programs and n-tier applications including web applications and web services.
Skilled in GUI, and middle-tier application development.
Coordinates with co-workers, business clients, other cross functional technical teams, project managers, operations, technical support and vendors.
Analyzes system and program requirements.
Provides production by solving problems/issues with systems and programs.
Ability to work independently, lead own projects, and requires minimal supervision.
Demonstrates a clear understanding of software development.
Demonstrates an "above average" understanding of software development and research tools.
Ability to lead analysis and design of complex and/or cross functional system.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of web or client-side application development experience.
Prefer a minimum of 3 years of development experience with Java.
Programming experience with Java, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, JDBC.
Standard Open Source/Web Framework knowledge (Struts, JSF, JUnit, Log4J).
Programming experience in WebSphere RAD, WSAD, and/or Eclipse environments.
General knowledge of middleware technologies.
Large-scale application architecture and development experience methodologies.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying Service Oriented Architecture principles.
Experience developing synchronous messaging transactions.
General knowledge of database design and object development, including stored procedures and triggers.
Experience with XML and related technologies (XML Schema, XLST, SOAP).
Experience in client-side development markup languages (HTML, XHTML) and scripting languages (JavaScript).
SQL database development experience with Oracle or SQL Server.
Experience developing testing scenarios for developed code.
Excellent verbal and writing skills, particularly the ability to write and explain technical specification documentation to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience writing technical documentation and design documents
Pluses:
Experience mentoring other developers.
