Assistant Warehouse Manager w/ strong IT skills

Books Squared is looking for a very unique individual for a very interesting position. Only the right type of person should apply. We are a growing and exciting company leveraging technology to literally create a new marketplace online. We have a warehouse in the West Dallas Industrial area and this position will be responsible for the approximately 35 workstations and the network in our warehouse and will also serve as a backup and right-hand person to our warehouse manager. We will consider either an individual with very solid managerial experience and some IT experience, or a person with solid computer/networking experience but thinks they have the right personality to manage a large group of diverse people. But you MUST have at least IT background.
This position will be helping the Warehouse Manager with his tasks on a day to day basis. You will report directly to the Warehouse Manager and your title will be Assistant Warehouse Manager. In this role communication will again be key. The warehouse has approximately 35 employees and you must be able to communicate with a diverse group of people. You will be helping the warehouse manager with training, HR issues, keeping production up, tracking inventory, communicating with corporate, safety, and running the warehouse when the warehouse manager is out.
Along with the management duties you need to be very comfortable and able to do basic computer troubleshooting. Do you enjoy a challenge? Are you self-motivated? You will have the support of our corporate networking team in Seattle, WA, but you should be able to tackle and solve problems on your own. We have an interesting network that is growing quickly. Your warehouse in Dallas will have approximately 30 computers running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. Our operations depend on having these computers up and running. You will be part of our front-line defense that makes sure that they are. You will be the first contact for anyone in your warehouse needing computer assistance and you must be a good communicator.
Computer-related experience should include:
- Windows XP
- Windows 2003 Server
- Backups
- Basic Networking, running of cables
- Software installation, configuration
- Communicating (well!) with end users and upper management
