Program Support Coordinator
About the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)
The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) is a global industry alliance comprising more than 155 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. The MEF’s mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide. The MEF also conducts extensive marketing programs on a global basis.
Most of the work of the MEF is conducted by individual representatives of member companies that volunteer their time on activities that are synergistic with their company’s business strategy and market activities. Work is conducted through two primary committees, Technical and Marketing. MEF members meet quarterly, with approximately 200 people attending meetings held twice annually in North America and once each in Europe and Asia-Pacific
Work of the Technical Committee occurs through conference calls, email and at the noted quarterly meetings. The Marketing Committee is much more divers in terms of activities and geographies. Marketing runs a “Global Program”, developing key MEF positions and content used worldwide. Specific implementation of the programs are decided by regional, with Americas, European and Asia-Pacific marketing teams. Country teams reporting to these regions also exist. Examples of marketing activities include conference participation, public relations activities, membership recruiting and webcasts.

Position Overview
To enable the volunteer work of the MEF, led by the MEF COO, a small team of part and full-time contracted professionals work closely with the members to coordinate and implement key program support functions. Examples include quarterly meeting management, marketing events coordination, content development, website management, press and analyst relations, membership recruiting, retention and administration.
Reporting to the Manager, Program Support, the successful candidate will provide a range of support activities to both the Technical and Marketing Committees of the MEF. Key responsibilities will include:
• Quarterly Meeting Support:
o Registration list management, meeting room set-up, on-site logistics
• Track and Manage MEF Inventory
o Examples: printed collateral, speakers gifts, booth storage and maintenance, signage, banner stands, includes tracking and shipping to/from events (domestic & international)
• Regional Marketing Team Support (Activities led by MEF COO)
o Act as a prime support resource for one of the Marketing Teams (e.g. Americas)
o Manage mailing lists, coordinate conference calls, support regional membership recruiting and retention activities
o Coordinate MEF participation in marketing events (seminars, workshops, webinars, speaking engagements, recruiting road-shows) within and outside the supported region
• Involves a moderate amount of travel, typically 6-8 trips per year, both domestic and International
Location
This position will be located at our administrative office in the LAX area of Los Angeles, CA
Education, Experience-based Knowledge and Skills Required
• Minimum of five years meeting planning experience.
• Proven track record of managing events with attendance of over 25 people.
• Ability to work occasional extended hours and weekends to meet event needs.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and oversee a number of projects concurrently.
• Dedication to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
• Positive attitude, high energy individual, must be committed to working both independently and as a team player.
• Exceptional cultural awareness, judgment, and tact.
• Association meeting/event planning experience preferred
Technology Skill Set
• Must be technologically savvy, and display a willingness to seek out technological solutions to everyday business challenges.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is required.
• Experience with virtual meetings and web conferencing considered a plus.
