Full-time Dining Room Manager

Come work in a beautiful, resort-style retirement community! GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for the overall operation, coordination, appearance and maintenance of the dining area and waitress station and ensuring that courteous and efficient services are delivered.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

• Schedules daily work assignments for all dining room personnel, assigning specific jobs and spot checking to ensure standards are met. Maintains pertinent and appropriate records, files, schedules and studies.
• Supervises and counsels dining room personnel. Ensures staff members are properly trained and appropriately skilled. Provides staff education in accordance with the staff education plan, plus provides on-the-job training for dining room personnel.
• Supervises the physical appearance of the dining room area and wait stations
• Works with director to handle any complaints and find solutions.
• Assists in development, implementation and maintenance of written dining room service objectives and standards of practice with procedures for implementation.
• Coordinates staff for special functions and large parties. These duties will also require knowledge of event set-up and operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of two years management experience in “front of house operations” in a hotel, restaurant, or club; fine dining experience preferred
• Previous working experience in a long term care facility preferred.
• A high school graduate/GED. Courses in hospitality management or dining room operations from college or trade school preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisors and peers. Requires courtesy, tact and graciousness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work both in and out doors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the work day; must be able to life and carry up to 20 lbs. independently; must be able to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the work day. Must be able to see, hear, and speak.
